8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2014 Acura RLX?
The NHTSA has issued 6 recalls that directly affect the 2014 Acura RLX, addressing forward collision avoidance, headlights, seat belts, and rear suspension; two additional RLX-related bulletins reference later model years. Forward Collision Avoidance (CMBS) — software update to prevent false emergency braking (Honda recall JQ4/JQ5/JQ6). Headlight reflector delamination — headlight replacement (Honda recall JN2). Seat belt retraction failure in low temperatures — belt replacement (Honda recall JK8). Rear lower control arm bolts loosened in transport — bolt replacement (Honda recall JD0).
How do I check if my 2014 Acura RLX has an open recall?
Check your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup or bring your vehicle to Coggin Acura Fort Pierce for a free recall check; our service team will confirm open recalls at no charge. You can also call Acura customer service or use the NHTSA.gov VIN tool and then schedule service with us if an action is required. We verify NHTSA bulletins and apply manufacturer software updates or part replacements using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians.
How much does a 2014 Acura RLX recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge to the vehicle owner when performed at an authorized dealer like Coggin Acura Fort Pierce. All corrective actions listed by NHTSA for the 2014 Acura RLX — such as software updates, headlight replacement, seat belt replacement, or suspension bolt replacement — are covered by the manufacturer at no cost. If you need additional non-recall repairs, ask about our current service specials and service financing to pay over time.
Can I get my 2014 Acura RLX recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
For safety and warranty compliance, recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts, factory diagnostic tools, and correct software updates are applied. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce uses factory-trained technicians and OEM parts to complete recall work exactly as the manufacturer requires, protecting safety and resale value. If you prefer, we will check your VIN and explain required dealer procedures and timing when you schedule service.
How long does a 2014 Acura RLX recall repair take?
Typical recall repairs range from a quick software update (under an hour) to part replacement that may take a few hours; Coggin Acura Fort Pierce provides an estimated turnaround when you arrive or when you schedule appointment. Complex parts or replacements that require special-order components may extend time; we will contact you promptly and offer convenient loaner or shuttle options where available.
Does an open recall affect my 2014 Acura RLX's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in value and deter private buyers; addressing NHTSA recalls at a dealer preserves value and buyer confidence. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce documents completed manufacturer recall repairs using OEM parts, which helps protect resale and trade-in value; you can get a trade estimate at https://www.cogginacura.com/value-your-trade.htm after recalls are cleared.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2014 Acura RLX recall?
An open recall can influence inspection outcomes in some jurisdictions if the recall affects a safety-related system; addressing NHTSA recalls promptly reduces the risk of inspection issues.
