Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2016 Acura TLX?
The NHTSA has issued 14 recalls affecting the 2016 Acura TLX, covering fuel pump, fuel tank, transmission, engine, and safety label issues. Key issues include reduced fuel pump performance or pump failure that can cause engine stall, transmission wiring or park-lock concerns that can cause unexpected neutral or rollaway, timing belt tooth separation that can stall the engine, and an incorrect GVWR/GAWR label that could lead to tire overload. Corrective actions listed by the manufacturer include FI‑ECU software updates, fuel pump or fuel pump assembly replacement, transmission software updates or part replacement, timing belt replacement and inspection, and corrected certification labels — all performed by dealers free of charge under the recall program.
How do I check if my 2016 Acura TLX has an open recall?
The fastest way is to check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or call Acura/Honda customer service; Coggin Acura Fort Pierce can also confirm your recall status free of charge. If you prefer personal assistance, bring your VIN to Coggin Acura Fort Pierce in Fort Pierce, FL and we will verify NHTSA records and dealer bulletins for you at no cost. When you’re ready to bring your vehicle in, you may schedule service online and ask us to check recalls during your visit.
How much does a 2016 Acura TLX recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2016 Acura TLX are performed at no cost to the customer when the repair is covered by the manufacturer’s recall notice. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce performs all manufacturer recall repairs free of charge using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians; if additional non-recall maintenance is recommended, we will estimate that separately and offer service financing to help you pay over time. Check current offers and service specials before your visit for any additional maintenance savings.
Can I get my 2016 Acura TLX recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall repairs must be performed by an authorized franchise dealer to ensure free warranty coverage and use of OEM parts; Coggin Acura Fort Pierce is your local certified Acura dealer for recall work. Independent shops may perform repairs but cannot make the recall claim to the manufacturer on your behalf, which can affect the free repair entitlement and the use of factory diagnostic tools and updates. For full protection, safety, and accurate factory software updates, we recommend scheduling service with our factory-trained technicians at Coggin Acura Fort Pierce in Fort Pierce, FL.
How long does a 2016 Acura TLX recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many software updates or label installations can be completed in under an hour, while part replacements such as a fuel pump or timing belt inspection may require several hours or a day. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce uses OEM diagnostic tools to triage your vehicle quickly — we will provide a clear time estimate when you schedule service. If you need faster turnaround, ask about loaner vehicles or shuttle options when you schedule; we also post current offers under service specials.
Does an open recall affect my 2016 Acura TLX's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in offers and resale value because many dealers and private buyers check NHTSA history during appraisal. Getting recalls addressed at Coggin Acura Fort Pierce protects resale value and provides documented dealer service records showing factory recall completion; you can start a trade appraisal at our trade-in page. Resolving recalls also helps maintain buyer confidence and avoids negotiation reductions or purchase delays at time of sale.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2016 Acura TLX recall?
In many states, certain safety-related recalls (like fuel system or engine stall risks) can affect inspection outcomes; unresolved safety recalls may lead to failed or deferred inspections depending on local rules. To avoid inspection issues, schedule a free recall repair at Coggin Acura Fort Pierce and keep documentation of the completed recall in your service records. If you need help understanding Florida inspection guidance or how a recall could impact registration, contact our service department and we will explain the specifics and help you schedule service — service financing is available if additional maintenance is needed.
