8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Acura RLX?
The NHTSA lists 8 recalls affecting the 2017 Acura RLX, covering forward collision avoidance, headlights, seat belts, rear suspension, timing belt, and fuel pump. Forward Collision Avoidance (CMBS) — software update to prevent unexpected emergency braking when the system misidentifies roadside metal objects. Headlights — reflector film delamination that can reduce light output; dealers replace both headlights free of charge. Seat belts — driver and front passenger belts may not extend or retract in low temperatures; belts are replaced free of charge. Rear suspension — rear lower control arm bolts may have loosened in transport; dealers replace the bolts free of charge. Timing belt and fuel pump recalls listed by NHTSA for model years related to RLX variants may affect later components; dealers will inspect and replace affected parts free of charge. All recall details originate from NHTSA records and Coggin Acura Fort Pierce can verify your vehicle's status and complete repairs.
How do I check if my 2017 Acura RLX has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Coggin Acura Fort Pierce for a free VIN recall check. Online: visit NHTSA.gov/recalls and enter your 17-character VIN for instant results. In person: our service advisors will run a factory recall lookup and explain any needed repairs; if a recall exists we will complete the work free of charge. To book a verification visit, schedule appointment with our certified technicians; ask about available service financing and current service specials.
How much does a 2017 Acura RLX recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2017 Acura RLX are free of charge when performed under the manufacturer's recall program. Manufacturer-funded repairs cover parts and labor for NHTSA-listed recalls; Coggin Acura Fort Pierce performs these repairs at no cost to you. If additional non-recall work is recommended, we will explain the options, costs, and available service financing so you can get necessary maintenance now and pay later.
Can I get my 2017 Acura RLX recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall repairs must be completed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM procedures and warranty compliance — choose your local certified Acura dealer for recall work. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce uses factory diagnostic tools, OEM parts, and factory-trained technicians to perform recall fixes correctly and document the service with the manufacturer. Independent shops may not have access to official recall parts, software updates, or the manufacturer’s service bulletins required to close the recall on your vehicle record.
How long does a 2017 Acura RLX recall repair take?
Recall repair times vary by component but many software updates or part replacements can be completed within a single service visit. Examples from NHTSA recalls: CMBS software updates and headlight replacements are typically same-day when parts are available; more involved inspections (timing belt or fuel pump) may take longer. Schedule service and our service team will provide an accurate estimate and work to minimize your downtime; schedule service and ask about loaner options or local shuttle availability.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Acura RLX's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce trade-in value and dissuade buyers; resolving recalls preserves resale value and buyer confidence. Some dealers and private buyers check NHTSA recall records and may discount vehicles with open safety recalls. Get recalls resolved at Coggin Acura Fort Pierce to protect value — you can also get a VIN-based appraisal at our trade-in page after repairs are completed.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Acura RLX recall?
Open recalls do not automatically cause inspection failure, but safety-related recalls (seat belts, headlights, suspension) can lead to inspection issues depending on state rules. Fixing recalls at a certified dealer ensures your vehicle meets safety standards and reduces the risk of failing an inspection or having insurance implications. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce in Fort Pierce, FL will advise if an open recall could impact your state inspection and complete the required repairs free of charge.
