Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Acura TLX?
The NHTSA database lists 14 recall entries that apply to the 2017 Acura TLX across fuel system, transmission, label, and engine items. Primary issues affecting this model year include fuel pump and low-pressure fuel pump failures (engine stall risk), transmission wiring or park-lock defects (unexpected neutral or rollaway risk), an incorrect certification label, and a timing-belt tooth separation issue reported on related model years. All recall repairs are handled free of charge by Honda/Acura dealers; Coggin Acura Fort Pierce recommends you schedule service immediately if you own a 2017 Acura TLX.
How do I check if my 2017 Acura TLX has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or call Acura/Honda at 1-888-234-2138 to confirm open recalls for your 2017 Acura TLX. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce will also look up recalls for your VIN at no charge when you bring the vehicle in or when you schedule appointment. We recommend checking now — unresolved fuel-pump and transmission recalls can cause engine stall or unexpected neutral shifts, which are safety-critical.
How much does a 2017 Acura TLX recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2017 Acura TLX are performed free of charge to the owner when completed at an authorized Acura dealer. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce uses factory-trained technicians and OEM parts to complete recall repairs at no cost under the recall program; ask about available service specials for related maintenance. If you need to pay for additional non-recall maintenance at the same visit, we offer service financing and a pre-approval option at pre-approval so you can get essential work done and pay over time.
Can I get my 2017 Acura TLX recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized Acura/Honda dealer to ensure OEM parts, factory diagnostic procedures, and warranty-protecting software updates are applied properly. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce is a factory-authorized Acura franchise with OEM diagnostic tools and factory-trained technicians who perform free recall repairs and necessary software updates or part replacements. Using an independent shop for non-recall repairs is often acceptable, but recall work should be completed at a franchise dealer to preserve safety compliance and ensure official remedy records with NHTSA and the manufacturer.
How long does a 2017 Acura TLX recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many fuel-pump software updates or inspections can be under an hour, while pump or timing-belt replacements may take several hours and sometimes require parts ordering. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce will give you an estimate when you schedule service; we prioritize recalls and work to minimize your downtime with fast scheduling and loaner options where available. Always check with us before your appointment so we can prepare parts and staff, and review any available service specials that may apply to follow-up maintenance.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Acura TLX's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers verify recall status before purchase and may apply discounts or refuse sale until the recall is completed. Getting recalls resolved at Coggin Acura Fort Pierce protects vehicle value, documents official completion with the manufacturer, and provides buyer confidence when you pursue a sale or trade; you can start a trade appraisal at value-your-trade. Completing recall repairs is free and preserves safety, repairsability, and marketability of your 2017 Acura TLX — this helps when you later list, trade, or finance the vehicle.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Acura TLX recall?
Some safety-related recalls (fuel pump failures, transmission neutral issues) can be cited by inspection or flagged by insurers, and unresolved safety recalls can complicate registration or insurance claims in rare cases. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce recommends resolving safety recalls promptly to avoid inspection delays, insurance complications, and the increased risk of crash; we are your local certified Acura dealer for recall service near Fort Pierce. Schedule a no-cost recall check and any required repairs with our factory-trained technicians via schedule service; we also offer service financing options to help with any non-covered maintenance.
