Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2018 Acura RLX?
The NHTSA record shows 8 recalls affecting the 2018 Acura RLX, covering forward collision avoidance, headlights, seat belts, rear suspension bolts, timing belt issues, and a low-pressure fuel pump recall. Two recalls involve the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) which can falsely detect roadside metal objects and apply emergency braking; two recalls involve headlight reflector delamination; one impacts seat belt retraction at low temperatures; one covers rear lower control arm bolts; one inspects and replaces timing belts if teeth separate; and one replaces a low-pressure fuel pump that could cause a stall. All recall details come from NHTSA records; Coggin Acura Fort Pierce can confirm your VIN and advise next steps — you can schedule service online for a free inspection.
How do I check if my 2018 Acura RLX has an open recall?
You can check an open recall by entering your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring the vehicle to our service team and we will check it for free. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce uses factory diagnostic tools and the manufacturer database to verify open campaigns and will advise whether repairs are required at no charge. If you prefer, schedule service and our factory-trained technicians will confirm open recalls and perform any required repairs using OEM parts; ask about our service financing if you need payment options.
How much does a 2018 Acura RLX recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge to the owner when performed by an authorized dealer. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce performs all manufacturer recall work at no cost using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians; you will not be billed for the corrective action covered under the recall. If additional non-recall repairs are identified, we will explain options and available promotions — check our service specials or speak to our service advisors about financing.
Can I get my 2018 Acura RLX recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure factory procedures, OEM parts, and warranty-preserving service; Coggin Acura Fort Pierce is your local certified Acura dealer for recall work. While some independent shops can perform mechanical fixes, only a franchise Acura dealer will have the required manufacturer software updates, OEM replacement components, and documented recall service that protects you and your vehicle's value. For safety and compliance, we recommend bringing your 2018 Acura RLX to our certified technicians — schedule appointment today; we also offer service financing if needed.
How long does a 2018 Acura RLX recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall type but many recall fixes take from one hour to a few hours; software updates and inspections are typically faster than parts replacements. For example, a CMBS software update or VIN check can be completed in a single visit, while headlight replacement, timing belt inspection, or fuel pump replacement may require parts and a brief return visit; Coggin Acura Fort Pierce will give an ETA when you schedule service. We offer express bays and work to minimize downtime for Fort Pierce drivers; ask about loaner options or shuttle service when you book.
Does an open recall affect my 2018 Acura RLX's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce buyer confidence and may negatively affect trade-in or resale value until the recall is completed. Dealers and private buyers often check NHTSA records and may discount offers for vehicles with open recalls; getting recalls resolved at an authorized dealer preserves value and ensures the recall is documented as completed. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce can complete recall repairs and provide documentation to protect your vehicle's resale value — start the process by visiting our trade appraisal page at value your trade or schedule service.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2018 Acura RLX recall?
Some safety-related recalls — such as seat belts, headlights, or suspension bolts — can affect inspection outcomes depending on state rules and the specific defect. Because certain recalls on the 2018 Acura RLX relate to headlights, seat belt function, and rear suspension bolts, unresolved issues may create inspection or registration complications in some jurisdictions. If you are due for inspection, bring your vehicle to Coggin Acura Fort Pierce for a recall check and corrective action to avoid inspection delays — schedule service and ask about our current service specials and financing options.
