Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2019 Acura RDX?
The NHTSA has issued 14 recalls affecting the 2019 Acura RDX, primarily for air bag inflators (9 recalls), fuel pump failures (3 recalls), a transmission brake-shift interlock issue (1 recall), and a certification label printing issue (1 recall). These air bag recalls involve driver frontal air bag inflators that can rupture or explode due to propellant degradation or moisture intrusion, which can send metal fragments into the cabin and cause serious injury or death. Fuel pump recalls address a low-pressure fuel pump that can fail and cause an engine stall; the transmission recall updates the brake-shift interlock to prevent unintended rollaway; and the certification label recall replaces labels that may be wiped away. All listed recalls come from NHTSA records and are repaired free of charge by Acura dealers like Coggin Acura Fort Pierce.
How do I check if my 2019 Acura RDX has an open recall?
You can check your vehicle by VIN at NHTSA.gov or we can verify it for you for free when you call or schedule appointment with Coggin Acura Fort Pierce. Bring your VIN or license plate number and our factory-trained technicians will confirm any open recalls and recommend next steps at no cost under the manufacturer program. We also offer service financing to make any recommended non-recall maintenance more manageable so you can get back on the road safely.
How much does a 2019 Acura RDX recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2019 Acura RDX are performed free of charge under the manufacturer's recall campaigns. If additional non-recall maintenance is identified, our service advisors will explain options, including available service specials and service financing so you can address repairs now and pay later.
Can I get my 2019 Acura RDX recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts, correct programming, and documented completion under the manufacturer program; we strongly recommend Coggin Acura Fort Pierce for these repairs. Independent shops may not have the exact replacement parts, manufacturer diagnostics, or access to official service instructions required to complete some recall remedies correctly and to record the recall as closed with NHTSA/manufacturer.
How long does a 2019 Acura RDX recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many air bag inflator replacements and label replacements can take a few hours, while fuel pump replacements or parts-limited campaigns may take longer; our team gives an estimated turnaround when you schedule service. If parts are not immediately available, Coggin Acura Fort Pierce will notify you and offer interim options or a priority appointment as parts arrive.
Does an open recall affect my 2019 Acura RDX's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in offers and resale value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records before purchase. Completing recall repairs at Coggin Acura Fort Pierce protects your vehicle value and provides documented proof of remedy when you visit our appraisal team at Value Your Trade.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2019 Acura RDX recall?
Some states or inspection programs may reference recall status during transfers or safety checks, so leaving a safety recall unresolved could cause complications during inspections or when registering the vehicle. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce will resolve manufacturer recalls free of charge and provide the documentation you need for inspections and title transfers.
2019 Acura RDX Recall Summary

Defect

Honda is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 CR-V, Odyssey, and model year 2013 Acura RDX vehicles. Honda will notify owners and instruct them to take their vehicle to a Honda or Acura dealer. The dealer will install an updated brake shift interlock blocking mechanism free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 13, 2013. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009. Honda's campaign recall numbers are S96, S97, and S98.
