2022 Acura ILX Oil Filter in Fort Pierce, FL

For this model year, the manufacturer’s schedule calls for oil filter replacement every 20,000 miles. The filter captures debris carried by the oil, and a loaded filter can open its bypass valve so oil circulates unfiltered. Service history and an inspection can also help determine what the vehicle needs now.

• Filter replacement is paired with the oil service.
• The filter is checked for a proper seal after the engine runs.
• A new drain plug gasket or washer is used where applicable.

The filter is matched to the 2.4-liter inline-4 engine fitted in the sedan. A new drain plug gasket or washer is installed where the engine uses one. After the engine is run, the filter seal is checked for leaks so the service includes more than simply removing and installing a component.

• Filter matched to the engine’s specification.
• New drain plug gasket or washer where required.
• Leak check at the filter seal after the engine runs.

A loaded filter does not stop the engine getting oil; it stops the engine getting filtered oil, which can happen without an immediate dramatic symptom. Drivers may first notice an oil-pressure warning, a noisier-than-usual engine, or oil that darkens quickly after a change. An inspection and service history help determine the next step.

• Debris remains captured until the filter loads.
• The bypass valve may allow unfiltered oil to circulate.
• An inspection can check for leaks or warning signs.

The correct filter is selected for the engine actually fitted to this Acura sedan. Matching the filter helps ensure it is appropriate for the engine’s application and can be checked for a proper seal after installation. Coggin Acura Fort Pierce can handle the filter selection as part of the oil and filter service.

• Engine displacement: 2.4 liters.
• Engine layout: inline-4.
• Filter selection is matched to the engine.

The filter holds debris carried away by the oil, and extending its use can allow the bypass valve to open once the filter loads. Replacing the filter alongside the oil renews both the lubricant and the filtration component. The manufacturer’s published schedule calls for filter replacement every 20,000 miles, while service history and inspection can guide immediate decisions.

• Oil and filter service renews filtration together with the oil.
• A loaded filter can allow unfiltered oil to circulate.
• The filter seal is checked after the engine runs.
